Learn to Chip Carve with BERT HIRT
Zweischnitt, Dreischnitt, 3 cuts and it's out!. We all had front-row seats to an excellent seminar on January 14, with Bert Hirt, our very own master Chip Carver. Bert gently chided us about dull blades and rough cuts, then proceeded to demonstrate just how easy Chip Carving can be. The camera zoomed in and we watched on the big screen as Bert made the 3 deft cuts (dreischneitt means "3 cuts" in German) needed to flip out a chip. Then a series of chips to make a border, or a pinwheel or rosette. Then it was up to us to carve up a practice board with our own (mostly new) blades as Bert came to each of us with his expert advice. A good time, and a lot of chips, was had by all.
Thanks Bert!
